Teisipäeval 12. juunil kell 18 avatakse Y galeriis Läti noorema põlvkonna ühe põnevaima maalikunstniku Andris Vitolinsi (sünd 1975) näitus “Urban+Positive”.
Andris Vitolins: “Ma teadvustan end kui urbaniseerumisprotsessi uurijat, näitan kuidas inimese mõistus, tahe ja tegevus muudavad loodust ja keskkonda .”
Näitusel tulevad esitamisele Vitolinsi maalid paarist viimasest aastast. Tema spestiifika on tööstusehitised, konstuktsioonid, masinad ja autod. Ringi reisides otsib ja pildistab AV teda huvitavaid nähtusi ning teostab nende jäädvustuste järgi suuremõõtmelisi maale -- neid mõnes mõttes ebaharilikke objekte omamoodi väärtustades. Andris Vitolinsi maalid on ühelt poolt ülistus inimese loomingule, teisalt mõnes mõttes irooniline nostalgia kadunud modernismi- ja industriaalajastu järele. Nii mõnigi kord kujutab ta tooteid, mida toodeti Nõukogude Liidu aegses Lätis ja nüüd enam mitte, näiteks RAF-busse.
Näitus Y galeriis on Vitolinsi kaheksas personaalnäitus. 2006 oli tal suur väljapanek “Mürgised helid” Laäti Kunstimuuseumi Arsenalsi hallis.
Näitus “Urban+Positive” on esimene Läti kunsti ekspositsioon peale “Läti invasiooni” aastal 2003.

A formal opening of Latvian artists Andris Vitolins solo exhibitions “URBAN + POSITIVE” will take place on the 12th of June in the Y gallery, Tartu.
“I feel like a researcher of environmental urbanization processes, i.e., the way that the human mind, will and activity transform the natural environment,” claims artist.
The exhibition will present the works that have been made during last two years. Andris Vitolins works are colourful and they project positive energy and rhythm. In all travels, both in Latvia and elsewhere in the world, artist seeks specific objects and photographs them from novel perspectives in order to highlight unusual places and things. From these materials he emerges his paintings.
Andris Vitolins has had several solo exhibitions. This is going to be the second solo exhibition outside of Latvia. The first one was held in Slovenia, Ljubljana (2006). The artist’s most recent solo exhibition “POISONOUS SOUNDS” took place in Latvian Art Museum, exhibition hall Arsenals Creative Laboratory (2006). Andris Vitolins paintings are included in the collection of Latvian National Museum of Art and also in several private collections.
Exhibition “URBAN + POSITIVE” is a significant event. Because the last time when Latvian paintings where exhibited in Tartu was in year 2003 during INVASION.
The formal opening will take place in Estonia, Y gallery – the art Gallery of Tartu University. Andris Vitolins paintings will be available from June 12th till June 24th.
